The Mikea National Park is the only one in Madagascar concerned with the preservation of the Mikéa tribe’s living conditions and traditions. They are called “people of the forest”, a hunter-gatherer tribe still preserved from “civilization”. Come discover an exceptional biodiversity and immerse yourself in their primitive lifestyle.
For many years, we speak about them as a myth rather than a reality. Among their neighbors, some oral traditions depict them as strange and supernatural beings. Known for their mystical powers in a primitive way of life, they are associated with the legends of spirits of the forest (hako, lampihazo, kotoke, kalanoro).
In addition to their hunter-gatherer lifestyles, other elements stand out. Thus, they practice a kind of polyphony based on hiccups and falsetto voices, whose equivalents exist only among the Pygmies of Central Africa and certain Bushmen tribes.
Mikea Lodge offers the unique opportunity to experience the Mikea tribe lifestyle.
